Enhancing student comfort in psychiatric clinical settings
Abstract
Fear, anxiety, and negative attitudes have decreased the popularity of psychiatric nursing as a career choice among nursing students. Nursing faculty is faced with the challenge of reducing nursing student fear and anxiety, as well as changing the negative attitudes of student nurses entering the psychiatric clinical settings to positive ones. This article provides strategies for enhancing student comfort in the psychiatric clinical setting, which can lead to an increase in psychiatric nursing as a career option.
