This article is dedicated to our dear friend and colleague Gary L. Brown who lost his valiant battle with cancer this past spring. Our writing group will forever be changed because of his work and now because of his loss. It seems most appropriate that this article “What Makes a Great Nurse” is our first since his death because Gary truly was a great nurse!
